Means To Make Homemade Catfish Bait
Catfish are freshwater fish with no scales, thus, producing a smooth skin. They have whiskers that they use as feelers as they swim along. Many people are keen on catching large catfish because they give white meat that tastes sweet when freshly cooked. And since they are not picky eaters, you can prepare your own bait to catch them.
Many catfish baits are available in fish stores. However, because of chemicals added to commercially made baits, you cannot be sure how safe it is when eaten by catfish. So, I strongly suggest that you prepare your catfish bait. It is not difficult to make as long as you have the ingredients and knowledge on how to do it. Just follow the steps below on how to make homemade catfish bait. So, let us start.
Because catfish make use of their nose than their eyes, you need to produce baits that have strong odor to attract them. The first thing you need to do is gather all the necessary ingredients to make your own catfish bait. Prepare pound of fowl liver, one cup flour, one cup water, one tablespoon salt, 3 cloves of peeled garlic and plastic container with lid.
After preparing all the materials, start making your own catfish bait. Make sure chicken liver and garlic are both well blended using a food processor. Add water, flour, salt and chicken liver in a bowl. If the mixture is too wet, add more flour, and if it’s too dry, add more water. Combine all the ingredients properly. Form an inch of balls using your hands and place them in the plastic container. Cover the plastic container tightly. Place the plastic container under the sun for 48 hours. After 48 hours, it is now ready as catfish bait. Never forget to wash your hands afterwards.
There are other things that can be used as catfish baits, such as clams, prawns and of course worms. Fresh clams are favored than frozen clams. Catfish favored prawns more than anything. Unlike clams, frozen shrimps can be utilized as baits. Although most people do not remove the shell, I highly suggest that you do, because it is more appealing to the catfish. You can also cut large-sized prawns into two. As for worms, they are easy to acquire since you can dig them up in your garden or in any place where there is soil.
Now you know how to formulate your own catfish bait. So, do it now and get those large catfish. Remember, the bigger your bait, the bigger catfish you will catch!
