The Joy Of Jellyfish, Keeping Pet Jellyfish In Aquariums

What is the first thought which comes up to your mind when you hear about jellyfish. Yes, it is certainly something quite mysterious since the jellyfish are announced to be one of the most enigmatic creatures in seas and oceans. Actually, the first information about the jellyfish’ existence is more than 4000 years old but just 50 years ago, we hardly knew anything about these creatures. Perhaps, if you are over the age of 30 you remember that it was only possible to see jellyfish in the big and public aquariums. They used to be one of the biggest attractions, actually! But nowadays, jellyfish could easily become your new pet! It is great, isn’t it?

Do you wonder what the reason is? Of course, the jellyfish did not evolve in a way so as to be able to live in aquariums! It would be an extremely strange direction of evolution and even if it could happen, it would take like several millions of years. So, evolution is definitely not the reason! But what is it then? Actually, the reason why we can already look after jellyfish and even buy them as a pet is the better knowledge we have about these creatures.

Once again, we are going to mention the fact that only a few decades ago (let’s say 50 years), we did not know anything about the jellyfish. We knew neither what they ate nor how they copulate. We did not even know what their healthy environment is! Fortunately, all these are facts which we are familiar with at present. That is why we can easily make our aquarium a good place for a jellyfish (or more) depending on the aquarium’s size.

If you think this article is interesting, you should wait until the next fact! And here it comes: according to a survey, jellyfish are the new hit pets on the market. Yes, you read correctly “hit pets on the market”. Obviously, there is also a trend about having a pet which is followed by many people. Forget about the snakes which are so expensive to look after (mice are not cheap food)! Furthermore, having a snake in an aquarium is not fashionable any more! Just get the reptile out, fill the aquarium with water and let a jellyfish settle down in its new home. Of course, this is a joke! You should know that you should equip an aquarium with special stuff (such as special light, plants, temperature regulator etc).

So, if you love experiments, you definitely should try looking after a jellyfish. It will be totally new to you, respectively totally interesting! But if you are a “thinker”, you’d probably like to think everything through before having made such an “important decision”. Basically, there is nothing you should think through or worry about. Looking after jellyfish is cheap, easy and it is not time-consuming whatsoever. All you need to do is feed your new pets regularly and make sure that the aquarium is working properly so that the water’s temperature and levels of oxygen are exactly as much as they are supposed to be.

Jellyfish are easy to keep as pets today due to new technologies and information. It’s easier then you may think. Start yourself off with the Moon Jellyfish. Visit our website to learn more about setting up a Jellyfish Aquarium.
