Basic Discus Fish Care Tips
When it comes to keeping discus fish, it can often times be a difficult thing to do. Especially when you are not sure what to do to take really good care of them. And what’s even more frustrating is how easy it is for discus to stress and die. So, what I’ll do is reveal to you a few basic discus fish care tips.
This way, you will know what to do when it comes to keeping and raising discus. Oh, and don’t worry, the tips will help you understand the needs of discus, too. And one of those needs is food. Some discus are very particular about the foods they eat. Most like bloodworms, but you will probably have to give your fish a few different types of foods to see which ones are its favorite.
One of the main things you should know when it comes to raising discus is that they have to live in water that has a certain pH level. If the pH level is too high or too low, the fish will either get sick or will start to stress. If they begin to stress, they will die.
So, make sure you keep a close eye on the pH level of the aquarium’s water. You should also keep the fish tank away from any doors that are revolving or that are being opened and closed constantly throughout the day. This will also spook your fish and make them stress. So, be sure you keep their tank away from the doors.
The other discus fish care tip that will help you keep your discus happy is to keep them with other fish. Discus love being with other fish. They’re shoaling fish. And so they must be with other fish or they’ll get lonely. So, be sure you keep them with other fish. I would say you should have about five discus in one tank. You can have more, but at least have a few of them in your tank. Just having one is not a good idea.
